A proactive approach to retention

Our time-tested strategy for retention includes a team of dedicated professionals that proactively maintains contact with newly placed participants to identify potential issues before they become problems that can affect retention. Our goal is to provide continued support and coaching while eliminating barriers that can impact an individual's career pathway.

Keeping the lines of communication open

Caseworkers follow up with phone calls and site visits where appropriate just to check in.

Providing support when employees need it

Extended hours enable employees to meet with their caseworker outside of normal business hours to receive coaching and other supportive services to help them stay on track.

Broadening the support network

Peer support groups and mentors within the community are in place to broaden employees' support network.

Offering professional guidance

Additionally, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) gives employees free access to professional guidance beyond our dedicated social workers to address personal, family, financial, legal and other challenges that can affect placement retention. In fact, we link them with the same EAP services available to MAXIMUS employees.

Improving employee retention with a sector-based approach

Our sector-based approach has been shown to have a substantial impact on employee retention and wages. Researchers find that participants who receive sector-based employment services are more likely to remain employed and work all 12 months of the year. They work more hours and in jobs with higher wages and benefits, participate in vocational training in the target sector (40% more likely), and are 31% more likely to complete their training. And, they earn significantly higher wages, from 18 to 24 percent more – about $4,500 over the 24-month study period.
