A Food-Filled Thanksgiving for All

For many in our local communities, purchasing a Thanksgiving dinner just isn’t possible. At several of our offices across the U.S., MAXIMUS employees came together to support those in need, providing a hearty Thanksgiving meal for local families. Here are two examples.

This past week, employees at our Reston, Virginia headquarters donated eight (very large) boxes of food and more than 25 gift certificates for turkeys and hams to a local food drive, coordinated by Cornerstones, Reston Community Center, and the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce.

On the west coast, staff in our office in Rancho Cordova, California conducted an annual food drive with the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, collecting canned goods for low-income families.

The MAXIMUS Foundation is also proud to support Shepherd’s Table, one of our recent grant recipients, that provides daily meals to those in need in Silver Spring, Maryland. Through the extraordinary efforts of thousands of volunteers and dedicated staff, including Executive Director Jacki Coyle, their evening meal has been served without interruption since December 1983. Chef Manual H. De La Rosa is preparing an extra-special Thanksgiving dinner this year. In addition to daily meals, Shepherd’s Table offers an eye clinic, clothing closet and resource center.

We applaud our non-profit partners who passionately work to ensure everyone can enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner. On behalf of the MAXIMUS Foundation, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
