Joining the likes of Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Desmond Tutu, Bono and George Clooney, MAXIMUS Federal Chairman Dr. John Boyer has been awarded the 2013 Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award.

The Ripple of Hope award, presented by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights during the 2013 Ripple of Hope Gala, lauds leaders of the international business, entertainment and activist communities who demonstrate commitment to social change. Honorees reflect Robert Kennedy’s passion for equality, justice and basic human rights, as well as his belief that everyone must strive to “make gentle the life of this world.”

Dr. Boyer, who serves as the chairman of MAXIMUS Federal and the MAXIMUS Foundation, was honored for his work as a lifelong healthcare advocate and philanthropist. After a 24-year career with the U.S. Department of Defense where he successfully advocated for the adoption and expansion of health care benefits for military families, Dr. Boyer joined MAXIMUS, where he has continued his pursuit of serving populations in need.

At MAXIMUS, Dr. Boyer has worked with federal and state governments to help enroll disadvantaged and low-income populations into programs such as Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Dr. Boyer also helped found the MAXIMUS Center for Health Literacy (CHL), which develops easy-to-read print materials and easy-to-use websites for populations served by governments and public health organizations – populations that often have unique language and cultural needs.

Today, the CHL has also played an important role in health reform, supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and health insurance exchanges with developing consumer friendly communication materials aimed at educating the public about the Affordable Care Act.

We are immensely proud to have a member of our team honored with this important distinction, and we offer our congratulations to Dr. Boyer. His work is an inspiration and embodies the value that we at MAXIMUS place on citizen service. Congratulations!
