The MAXIMUS Foundation is excited to share that Denver Children’s Home (DCH) is one of our recent grant recipients. We are proud to support the good work of an organization committed to maintaining a safe, healing and facilitative environment that provides culturally respectful, relational and supportive experiences for those who turn for help.

Originally formed in 1876 as Denver Orphan’s Home, DCH has a long-standing history of working with Colorado’s most vulnerable children and families – those who struggle with the effects of poverty, abuse, neglect, and exposure to violence.

MAXIMUS Foundation Board Member Paula Wales recently visited DCH. “One of the things I am always most surprised about when I visit is the sound of laughing children… despite the trauma [they] have experienced,” she shared.

“Denver Children’s Home helps these incredibly strong children take ownership of their treatment; to understand their reactions and responses to life events, accept responsibility for their actions, control their behavior, and develop coping mechanisms for difficulties beyond their control.”
