MAXIMUS helps individuals and their families remove barriers to employment so that they can become self-sufficient.


From case management to employer services, MAXIMUS offers a complete portfolio of offerings that have assisted more than 375,000 disadvantaged people find and keep jobs that set them on the path to economic independence. These include key services, such as child care, transportation, counseling, and access to federal programs, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Enrollment, Earned Income Tax Credit Services, and numerous community programs operated by our partners.

MAXIMUS Workforce Services began in 1988 when Los Angeles County awarded the first welfare privatization contract in the country. Today, MAXIMUS has operated welfare-to-work programs in more than 40 states.

MAXIMUS adopts a performance-based contracting model that provides tangible solutions and achievement goals for any agency. Our outcome-focused approach recognizes the importance of paying for desired outcomes, not processes.

MAXIMUS brings nearly 20 years of experience in the operation and management of employment programs for individuals on public assistance. Our team of experts is prepared to work with agencies to review current operations, design and implement performance management plans that help improve performance, and bring agencies into compliance with the Deficit Reduction Act.

A study conducted by The Rand Corporation, based on the competitive outsourcing model employed by the County of San Diego, found that "MAXIMUS consistently performs best" among for-profit, non-profit, and county-run programs.

    Our experience has given MAXIMUS a wealth of best practices and program innovations. Supplementing our services is WorkQWEST™, our suite of employment readiness tools, using web-based technology to assess, prepare, and support participants in attaining self-sufficiency, and LifeWorks!, our employment readiness and life-skill training curriculum. Because communities play a critical role in the success of families, we collaborate with community-based organizations, schools, and faith-based communities and have participated in several award-winning interdisciplinary programs.
