MAXIMUS Canada - Child Support Services (Themis)

MAXIMUS first expanded operations into Canada in October of 2002 by purchasing Themis, Ltd., which operates the child support program on behalf of the province of British Columbia and provides program development consulting and database telecommunications products to other Canadian enforcement programs.

MAXIMUS Canada - Health Services

MAXIMUS Canada manages the administrative operations of the Medical Services Plan (MSP) and PharmaCare, under the program name Health Insurance BC. Our focus is to transform operations and systems landscapes to provide best in class service.

The Ministry of Health Services' Health Insurance BC program is designed to resolve long-standing service problems and enable the long-term sustainability of health insurance registration and claims processing functions. MAXIMUS was selected through the procurement process, with the objective of significantly improving and sustaining service levels. Our partnership with the Ministry allows us to leverage existing and future expertise and technologies that the Ministry does not have. The initiative also is aligned with the Ministry's evolving role of stewardship and oversight, as opposed to direct service delivery. With financial incentives in place to drive superior performance, we are transforming both the business processes and underlying technologies of the program. Ensuring the privacy and security of personal information is a fundamental element of this project. The numerous benefits to be gained by involving the private sector in this initiative could not be justified unless the Ministry could secure the confidentiality of information. Moreover, the Ministry sought assurances that MAXIMUS could consistently and reliably meet the significantly enhanced privacy and security arrangements required under existing and new legislation as well as the rigorous parameters in the contract.

The privacy, security, technology and service improvements, together with a commitment to continuing technology refresh within a fixed price contract, ensure that British Columbia residents continue to receive value for money throughout the term of the agreement.
