Here’s a piece that Jan Ruff, MAXIMUS Senior Vice President and health policy expert, wrote for the June issue of Policy and Practice, the magazine of the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA). The article focuses on a specific section of the Affordable Care Act that provides states with unique opportunities to transform their health insurance programs.

“When the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law five years ago, a primary objective was to increase affordable health insurance coverage. The federal and state governments, and more specifically state health and human service agencies, have had their share of successes in achieving this, but they’ve also encountered struggles and challenges in meeting the law’s requirements — and this is expected to continue into the future.”
