The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Minority Health has announced that April is National Minority Health Month. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Bridging Health Equity Across Communities” and is focused on raising “awareness about efforts across health, education, justice, housing, transportation and employment sectors to address the factors known as the social determinants of health – environmental, social and economic conditions that impact health.”
Kinte Ibbott, Vice President of the MAXIMUS Center for Health Literacy, shares some thoughts about the importance of raising awareness about the health disparities in minority communities and continuing to focus on solutions that help reduce them.
